The Cameron Replacement Project
This customer in West Seattle had purchased this home with a builder grade fireplace finished in an outdated solid white tile and cement facing. It did not match the transitional decor the customer was hoping for and the lack of a mantel did not offer any protection for his TV or audio equipment.
In this case we removed all of the existing finishes then built a riser for his new fireplace. What cannot be seen in this photo is that we redirected the heat down to the right side of the hearth with a fan and duct kit. This reduced the clearances to the TV and offered additional protection. Then we ran wire hiding "smurf" tubes into the build out that extended through the wall on the left. This kept all of his A/V wiring hidden and protected,
To create a warm place to cuddle up next to the fire, we built a raised hearth then matched his stone choice with a remnant slab of granite which tied everything together.
