Do you miss socializing? The pandemic has everyone on lockdown. But if you are brave enough to venture out, there are some interesting activities you can do. Still, it is much safer to stay at home and limit your contact to just a few people. If you want to have those few people over for a social distancing visit, you can easily take advantage of your outdoor fireplace to do so. Here are some tips.

Wear Your Masks

If your outdoor fireplace doesn’t allow you to social distance, you and your guests should wear masks if possible. Maintaining six feet of distance may not be possible throughout the whole visit, and you should try to limit your contact with each other as much as possible.

BYOB…etc

Have your guests bring their own food and drinks with them. Households can safely share with each other, but others should have their own food and drink. This will limit the contact you have with each other and the food in general. If you want to be able to host a cookout, have your guests bring their own small grill.

Take Turns by the Fire

Your outdoor fireplace might not be big enough for everyone, but you can all take turns. Try to arrange it so that everyone has some access to the fire, while still remaining in separate groups by household.

Keep it Small and Distanced

Even if you have a large patio with your outdoor fireplace, you should keep your gathering small. A good recommendation is to limit gatherings to 10 people or less. Of course, if you have children in attendance, this number could increase quickly, and it can be difficult to keep children socially distanced. Therefore, it is a good idea to keep your gatherings around the outdoor fireplace kid-free or limited to only a few children.
