The Ladine Replacement Project
This customer wanted to update their family room with out the hassles of a major remodel. Many homes were built when televisions needed a shelf to sit on but now that TVs are flat they no longer need that space. This project was no exception.
We consulted with our cabinetry installer and found that refinishing the shelves was much cheaper than replacing them. To offer a transitional style, we removed the brick, crown molding mantel, and mantel legs. After adding an outlet and "smurf" tube behind the TV, we framed up to the ceiling, slightly recessed from the cabinet edge. We installed a blue stone hearth, beam mantel, and TV mount. Then installed the stone from floor to ceiling. After the cabinets were refinished the transformation was incredible and we were able to complete it all in less than 4 days.
